NoticeNotice of Establishing Battery Energy Storage System Fund and Property Acquisition
Compass Asset Management Co., Ltd. (HQ: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Hitoshi Maehara; hereinafter referred to as “Compass AM”) is pleased to announce the establishment of its first battery energy storage system fund designed to meet the diverse needs of investors. The fund invests in six high-voltage grid-connected battery energy storage system (“BESS”) projects located in the Tohoku , the Kanto, and the Chubu regions of Japan.
As Japan continues to expand its renewable energy footprint, it is increasingly urgent to address supply–demand fluctuations caused by weather-dependent generation and regional grid constraints. Under these circumstances, securing “balancing capacity” to support stable grid operation has become a pressing issue. BESS technology has attracted significant attention as a solution expected to play a central role. By contributing to supply-demand balancing, peak load smoothing, and stabilization of frequency and voltage. BESS serves as essential infrastructure underpinning both social and industrial activity.
Compass AM will fully leverage its strengths in Japan’s renewable energy sector to expand its funds and proactively develop new investment areas, continuing to meet the diverse needs of investors.
